Located just north of Castellina in Chianti,
Querce Torta is just a short distance off of
the Chiantigiana Highway. The house is
set high on a hill overlooking its own
vineyards and olive groves. There are
fabulous views facing north of the valley
below. Entering through a wrought iron
gate, there is a short drive to the house.
Upon leaving the drive you walk to a large
terrace between the main house and the
guest house.
Entering from the terrace is a large entrance
hall. There is a large bath off of the hall
which goes with a large bedroom, also off of
the hall. Three steps up from the hall are
French doors opening onto a garden area.
There is a bedroom with a sitting area on
this level with French doors opening onto a
covered terrace. The master bedroom with a
sitting room and en-suite bath as well as
another en-suite bedroom with dressing room
are also on this level. Three of these
bedrooms are on the north side of the house
and have great views. Outside of this lower
level is a beautiful terrace with wonderful
views of the vineyards below.
From the entrance hall there is a wide wooden
circular staircase leading to the first floor. At
the top of the stairs is a large dining room with
a large fireplace with a wood fired oven.
There is a large living room opening onto a
loggia, where you can dine with fabulous views.
This opens to the kitchen. Off of the kitchen is
a bath, with stairs leading up to a bedroom with
heavy beams and great views. There is also a
laundry room on this level with a washer and
dryer.
The capanna has been turned into a spacious
guest house. Entering into a large living room,
there is a full kitchen complete with dishwasher.
There is a full bath on this level. Two sets of
wooden stairs lead down to a twin bedroom and
a double bedroom.
Behind the house and up about 25 steps is the
swimming pool which is 25 x 50 ft. From the
pool, there are wonderful views over the house
into the valley below with vineyards and olive
groves.
Distances: Castellina in Chianti with shops and
restaurants - 10 minutes, Florence - 1 hr., Siena
- 45 minutes
Daily maid service is included.
