VILLA LUCIA
|
Historic Villa Lucia is situated in the charming traditional village of Vorno, a delightful gathering of rustic stone farmhouses and majestic villas set in the lush countryside at the foot of Monte Zano in Northern Tuscany.
The main structure of Villa Lucia situated in Lucca, Tuscany, dates back to the year 500, while later additions and beautiful frescoes reflect the artistic period of the 18th century. This beautiful villa has nine guest bedrooms all with bathrooms en-suite and is set in a walled garden with extensive grapevine pergola, ancient grottos and fountains, swimming pools and tennis court. Across the south facing lemon garden lays the six bedroom Coach House. Casa Joshua is a separate property located over 300 yards from the main villa. The bedrooms in all the houses have air conditioning plus all the main rooms of the Villa Lucia are air-conditioned.

The main villa has nine bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms named after some of Italy's most famous Renaissance artists. The main structure of Villa Lucia dates back to the year 500, while later additions and beautiful frescoes reflect the artistic period of the 18th century. The enchanting walled garden was featured in the 2002 edition of Architetture del Verde, a book on elegant Lucchesi villas and formal Italianate gardens. The expansive garden will delight you with its extensive grapevine pergola, ancient grottos and fountains, and swimming pool.
Caravaggio, the three-room mastersuite, has a separate salon with fireplace and a large bathroom with antique tub, double marble basin, and a glass shower that sympathetically integrates the historic frescoes. The deluxe rooms (Bronzino, Raphael, and Michelangelo) are very spacious and have glorious scenic frescoes. The villas premium rooms Fra Angelico and Da Vinci, are located off the main drawing room that is decorated with beautiful Tuscan silk curtains, marble fireplace, fine antiques and grand piano. The upper floor has three bedrooms with bathrooms and is designed as a separate maisonette. The bedrooms Botticelli, Masaccio and Donatello, share a spacious deluxe living room. The kitchen and eating area are located off the large central salon and television room.
The Coach House
The Coach House is an elegant six-bedroom building with graceful tall wood-beamed ceilings, located within the south-facing lemon garden of the main villa. On sunny days you will dine 'al fresco' in the garden surrounded by the scent of the lemon trees, enjoying the stunning panoramic views of Monte Zano and the charming farmhouses and olive groves on the hill. Our philosophy for the renovation began with a deep respect for the existing architecture, while creating luxurious, modern accommodation for our guests. All our spacious bedrooms - Rossini, Puccini, Bellini, Scarlatti, Verdi and Vivaldi - have ensuite bathrooms and top quality beds. The adjoining limonaia has been converted to create a beautiful open-plan demonstration kitchen and dining room, with an ancient wine press and wine tasting room. The stone-columned pergola across from the limonaia dining hall creates an intimate haven for relaxing, reading, playing a game of chess or simply enjoying a glass of 'vino' on its soft banquettes.
Casa Joshua
Casa Joshua has lovely views to the north of the towers of Lucca and the Alpe Alpuane, with southerly views towards Monte Zano. The six spacious rooms - Monticatini, Chianti, Cinque Terre, Sienna, San Gimignano and Volterra - have en-suite bathrooms. The tasteful refurbishment includes antique furniture, marble basin tops and specially-selected designer fabrics. Casa Joshua has six bedrooms, four reception rooms and a lovely garden with terrace. The house can be rented as a whole or as two separate three-bedroom units, with each unit containing a large open plan kitchen/dining room and a drawing room with Tuscan fireplace.
Lucca
Tuscany's best-kept secret, the wonderful walled city of Lucca, lies midway between Florence and Pisa just six kilometers north of Vorno. Founded in 180 B.C., it is still surrounded by the old city walls built to keep out invaders from nearby villages. Nowadays, the city houses the incredible Piazza dell'anfiteatro, Piazza Napoleone, Torre Guinigi and great shopping.
Florence and Pisa are just at your doorstep. Florence is famous for its wealth of art, including perhaps the most famous of all statues, Michelangelo's "David". Pisa, home of famous Florentine Galileo, still attracts curious travelers to its Leaning Tower. The villages of Sienna, San Gimignano, and Volterra are all within easy distance. Whether you prefer to visit Cathedrals and Museums, wineries and pasta factories, or simply to picnic in the olive groves, Tuscany offers so much to do that one visit invites your return.
Tuscany is deservedly famous for its sites, culture and centuries of art and history. But this area of Italy is above all famous for its food. The simplicity of "casalingua" cooking is the basis for all Tuscan cuisine. And of course in Tuscany, wonderful olive oil and some of the world's best wines accompany the food. From Chianti Classico to the stunning Super Tuscans this area produces world class vintages.
